Tax Inspectorate - New Powers To reduce fraud the Tax Inspectorate will be increased by 100%(where possible transferred from other government departments and fast-track training given) and will be required to spend 80% of their time visiting business properties. New office support will be set up to increase efficiency, inspection rate and enforcement will substantially increase income. Tax inspectors will be given new powers to close premises immediately where tax has not been paid. New tax laws will prevent business being sold until all taxes owing have been paid and charges will be registered on property until paid in full. In order to reduce fraud solicitors will be required to retain 30% tax on all properties sold where information indicates it may be a second home or investment property for letting and not the principle family house (no transfers allowed).
